Leading the Profession
You may already know that Godfrey Pembroke follows a transparent, fee-for-advice model that puts you in control of both the scope of the services you receive and their cost. But did you know that we have also led the financial advice profession in adopting and promoting fee-for-advice?
As long ago as 2004, we decided to no longer pay or receive volume-based payments from platform providers — the first step in moving from a commission-based system to a pure fee-for-advice approach.
Two years later, we stopped accepting initial or trailing commissions on investment products for new clients — eight years before the Future of Financial Advice (FOFA) legislation is set to force other advisers to follow our lead. From 2006 onward, Godfrey Pembroke followed a true fee-for-advice model. In the case of this practice, we have operated on a Fee for Advice basis since 1994.
Naturally, we are also committed to offering all of our clients — new and existing — the opportunity to opt in to continuing advice every two years. Our clients also have the added peace of mind of knowing they can withdraw from their financial planning agreement at any time with one month’s written notice.
For us, it all adds up to a history to be proud of. For our clients, it means more flexibility and control, with complete transparency about the services they receive and the fees they pay.
